Windsor Stables Building

The name Windsor Stables reflects the building's original use in the late 1800's as a livery stable. The interior and exterior renovations are done in an English equestrian manner.

Windsor Stables History

From a feed stable in the late 1800's to a banquet and reception centre in the year 2000, Windsor Stables has been a part of the Lincoln landscape for over 100 years.

1867
City first surveyed, reserved for First Baptist Church.
1871
Church built at 11th and L street corner.
1875
Parsonage built on the property.
1887
Still used as parsonage.
1889
Feed stable.
1890
Brick livery built.
1895
First appeared in city directory as Windsor Stables.
1920
Name appeared as Windsor Garage. Changed due to advent of cars and demise of horse transportation.
1937
name changed to Windsor One Stop Service and 24 hour gas station and garage (also included two buildings to the east).
1951-1957
Building use unknown.
1958-1961
Used as Sears, Roebuck and Co. warehouse.
